THINK
David has come to bring food for his brothers who were called up to fight against the Philistines. He sees that the Philistines had a man there of tremendous size – 2,25 m long – who is challenging all to a duel. No one is willing! David feels that Goliath is mocking their God and accepts the challenge bravely. With just a pebble he slays the giant. What we read in this verse tells me that David was spiritually very mature for his age. He has a completely different perspective than the others. He not only sees the battlefield, the enemy soldiers, their weapons, etc. but also the bigger reality: he sees God’s involvement in the fight. Yes, he still needs to enter the battleground and look the giant in the eye. Yes, the fight is real and it’s going to be scary. However, David goes for it with the knowledge that he’s not alone. God is with him and God will dictate the outcome. Friend, yes there are giants on your way. Take what you have, do what you can and trust God for the outcome. That is what we call faith.
PRAY
Lord, I am facing the following giants… Amen.
DO
Ask God what the five pebble-strategy is that you should follow. Consider it well and then enter the fray… go cut that giant’s head off!
